Center for Laser, Energy, and Exploration Research (CLEER)

The Center for Laser, Energy, and Exploration Research (CLEER) was established to better capitalize upon the synergy between the Exploration and Space Technology (EaST), High Energy Laser (HEL), and Sustainable Energy Collection and Transport (SECanT) Laboratories at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. The research work of the Center has the overarching theme of exploration technology and covers both basic and applied research.

The members of CLEER have expertise in the areas of:

  • Incompressible flow
  • Rarefied gasdynamics
  • Propulsion
  • Laser interaction
  • Heat transfer
  • Energy

with both computational and experimental capabilities. In addition, CLEER maintains external relationships several universities, national laboratories as well as industry and international partners.
