Chair's Message
Welcome to the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department (ECE), one of the oldest and well-established departments at UCCS. The ECE department initially started as electrical engineering in 1965 with the initiative of the Late Mr. David Packard in 1965. The ECE discipline has a great impact on modern society from power generation and distribution to cellular communications to improve the quality of life for mankind. At UCCS ECE strives hard to give a hands-on education with a solid understanding of fundamentals. In addition, faculty are active in forefront areas of ECE research. At the undergraduate level , we offer a BS in Electrical Engineering degree and a BS in Computer Engineering (in collaboration with the Computer Science Department) and minors in both electrical engineering and computer engineering.
Most of our graduates are gainfully employed locally and nationally in companies such as Intel, Qualcom, Broadcom, Lockheed Martin Keysight Technologies Inc. and Northrup Grumman. At the graduate level we offer an MS in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Engineering with a specialization in Electrical Engineering. The department has well established laboratories in High Power Battery Studies, Micro and nano electronics with a 4000 sq. ft clean room, Communication and Signal Processing and Electromagnetics with a large anechoic chamber and Millimeter wave capability. Students are also trained in state-of-the-art design tools for VLSI Circuit Design, programmable logic such as FPGAs, embedded systems and RF circuit design etc. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
