Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering- Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering

Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering

Building on an Aerospace Engineering minor that has existed for over 20 years, the new Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering will prepare you for a high-paying career in the aerospace industry and is only one of two aerospace engineering programs in the state of Colorado.

Aerospace engineering is a combination of two distinct engineering disciplines. Aeronautical Engineering pertains to “within atmospheric influences” and Astronautical Engineering pertains to “outside atmospheric influences.” Accredited Aerospace Engineering degrees typically favor one or the other. The B.S. in Aerospace Engineering at UCCS will favor the Astronautical Engineering discipline to meet workforce needs.

Undergraduate students also have many opportunities to become involved in discipline related activities outside the classroom. The MAE Department has active chapters in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
