About the Program
This minor provides students the ability to supplement their study in other fields or computer science with a comprehensive set of courses in Game Design + 3D game development skills, used in many fields and career areas. This minor is designed to enhance employment opportunities
Focus of Study
This minor is designed for students with programming experience from coursework for personal experience and requires significant programming. Students will develop 3D games experience through programming courses: multiple types of programming, team-based game production, computer graphics, and additional courses in game design. This minor will facilitate employment for students wishing to pursue employment in the games industry. In addition to traditional games for entertainment, the game industry includes serious games (games designed for simulation and training, educational games, games for health care, and so on) and casual games (small, short games played in a web browser, device, or phone).
Program Requirements
- 21 credit hours
- 12 upper-division credit hours (3000-4999 level)
- 2.0 Minor GPA; all coursework toward the minor must be completed with a grade of C or better
- The student will be responsible for any prerequisites to required courses
- At most, 9 credit hours of transfer work may be applied to the minor
- Residency: Last 12 credit hours of the minor must be completed while registered at UCCS

- CS 2300 - Computational Linear Algebra or
- MATH 3130 - Introduction to Linear Algebra
- Complete 6 hours of upper-division (4000+ level) programming intensive GDD courses or CS 4780. Graduate-level Games and Media Integration courses may also be used.
