Biography

Dr. Kamran Shisher received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University in 2024. After his PhD, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University from Summer 2024 to Fall 2026. He joined the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) in the Fall semester of 2026. 

Dr. Kamran Shisher received the Auburn University Graduate School Distinguished Dissertation Award for his PhD thesis Timely Inference over Networks. He also received the IEEE Communications Society William R. Bennett Prize (2025) for his paper "Timely Communications for Remote Inference," published in IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking

His research addresses the fundamental research problems at the intersection of wireless communication networks, information theory, optimization/control, and machine learning. 

Current research interests include but are not limited to goal-oriented semantic communication and networks, resource allocation in networks, AI for networks and networks for AI, mobile computing, edge/fog computing, and distributed computing over networks, networked machine learning, e.g., federated/decentralized learning.
