About the Program

The Master of Engineering - Engineering Management degree is a practical graduate degree designed to prepare early and mid-career engineers to manage and lead in modern technology-driven organizations. The program provides the most up-to-date concepts and skills in engineering management based on the Engineering Management Body of Knowledge developed by the American Society for Engineering Management (ASEM).  Available exclusively online, the program can be completed entirely via distance.

Focus of Study

The UCCS Master of Engineering in Engineering Management program will prepare engineers for effective technical management through a series of courses focused on the key skills needed to be successful in a technology-driven work environment. Flexibility in program timing and modality is designed to accommodate today's working professional.

Program graduates will know and be able to perform in the following areas:

  • Systems engineering life cycle process
  • Finance and accounting principles applied to engineering organizations
  • Leadership and management skills for a rapidly changing technological world

Program Requirements

  • The degree program consists of 30 semester hours of coursework comprising 21 hours of core courses and 9 hours of specified emphasis courses in Business.
  • Deviations from the predefined curriculum (including requests for transfer credit) must be approved by the graduate faculty advisor and reflected in the Plan of Study. Coursework must be completed with a 3.0 GPA or better, and all coursework applied to the program (including any transfer credit) must have been completed no earlier than six years prior to degree completion.
  • Course work must be completed with a 3.0 GPA or better, and all course work applied to the program (including any transfer credit) must have been completed no earlier than 6 years prior to degree completion. Up to 9 semester hours of graduate work may be transferred from an accredited graduate program, provided course work has not been used for any other degree, the grade earned for the course is B or better, and the course content has been approved by the program director.

Admission Details

The minimum requirements for regular admission are as follows:

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering or a related science discipline from an accredited institution.
  • An overall undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a scale of 4.0.
  • Undergraduate coursework completed with a grade of B or better in:
    • Engineering Economics
    • Statistics
  •  Two (2) or more years of experience in industrial, civil or government engineering or a technical professional position is preferred.

Students are required to request official transcripts from all academic institutions attended (excluding University of Colorado campuses, if applicable). 

Applicants who do not meet the requirements for regular admission may be admitted on a provisional basis subject to the recommendation of the Program Director. Please contact the College at enonline@uccs.edu more information.
