Graduate Admission
A graduate applicant for admission to the College of Engineering & Applied Science will need to submit paperwork outlined in the following pages in order to be considered for admission into the Department of Computer Science, the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, or the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering. Paperwork must be submitted directly to the admissions office.

Remember that our candidate pool is highly competitive and graduate slots are limited. Herein, meeting the aforementioned minimum requirements does not, in any way, guarantee admission to the program.
Domestic Application Process
For domestic applicants, 2 types of applications are available: Regular Admission and Guaranteed Early Admission. The Regular Admission Process is for people who have never attended the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, or who have not attended the College of Engineering & Applied Science at UCCS in the past 4 years. The Guaranteed Early Admission Program is designed to offer outstanding students enrolled in their final semester in the College of Engineering & Applied Science at UCCS guaranteed and expedited admission. Please see below for the type of application that meets your particular situation.
Regular Admission Process
For this process you must submit the following:
- A completed online application available here.
- A $60 non-refundable application fee, paid online or check made payable to UCCS.
- One Official Transcript from each college/university attended. all transcripts must be sent directly from the previous school to the admissions office.
- Letters of Recommendation: Three letters of recommendation are required for all programs.
- GRE Scores are needed for the following departments: Computer Science, for all applicants with an undergraduate GPA less than 2.75; Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, for all applicants.
- Research/Teaching Assistantships are available, and are used for requesting financial assistance from the department - please contact the department directly for the RA/TA application.
Guaranteed Early Admission Program
For this program, the admission criteria is as follows:
- The applicant must be registered in his/her final undergraduate semester.
- The applicant must have completed a minimum of 45 semester hours at UCCS upon graduation. For Computer Science, the applicant must be working towards his/her B.S. degree in CS. For the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department, the applicant must be working towards his/her B.S. degree in ECE. For the Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Department, the applicant must be working towards his/her B.S. degree in MAE.
- The applicant must have a minimum undergraduate GPA: for the Computer Science Department - 3.0; for the Electrical & Computer Science Department - 3.25; for the Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Department - 3.25.
- The Applicant must be a resident of the United States.
For this Guaranteed Early Admission program, you must submit the following:
- A completed online application available here.
- A $60 non-refundable application fee paid online or check made payable to UCCS.
- A letter of recommendation from the current department chairperson.
International Application Process
For International applicants, you must submit the following:
- A completed online application here.
- A $100, non-refundable application fee, paid online or check made payable to UCCS.
- One Official Transcript from each college/university attended. All transcripts must be sent directly from the previous school to the admissions office.
- Letters of Recommendation: Three letters of recommendation are required for all programs.
- GRE scores: for the Computer Science Department, the GRE is required with a score of at least 148 on the quantitative portion; for the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department, the GRE is required; for the Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Department, the GRE is required.
- TOEFL or IELTS: TOEFL score - 80 on the internet-based exam; IELTS score - 6.5 or higher. If you have graduated from a US institution; or if you have completed a UCCS approved English as a Second Language Program (depending on the program), you are exempt from this requirement.
- For all graduate degrees, submit a course-by-course foreign degree evaluation by any NACES members.
- Research/Teaching Assistantships may be available, and are used for requesting financial assistance from the department - please contact the department directly for the RA/TA application.
Provisional Admission Status
For students with a grade point average below what the department requires for regular admission, Provisional Admission may be considered.
