Biography

Sezer Ozerinc earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Science and Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in 2015. From 2016 to 2023, he served on the Mechanical Engineering faculty at Middle East Technical University (METU), Turkey’s top-ranked engineering school. From 2023 to 2025, he was a visiting scientist at UIUC.
 
His research focuses on the mechanics of novel materials and architected structures to enhance mechanical performance. He has published 30 journal articles, and his work has been cited more than 1,500 times. Dr. Ozerinc’s honors include the Turkish Science Academy Young Investigator Award, the METU Young Investigator Award, and the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Seal of Excellence. He has also been recognized on UIUC’s List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent by Their Students.
