About the Program
The UCCS Master of Engineering in Systems Engineering provides a broad understanding of the roles of a systems engineer and a thorough understanding of process implementation -- from needs analysis and system requirements to trade off studies and system design.
The Master of Engineering in Systems Engineering program is proud to be a Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP) participant. The WRGP allows students who are residents of Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) states to enroll in programs outside of their home state at resident tuition rates.

Focus of Study
The UCCS Master of Engineering in Systems Engineering is designed to enhance value in today's engineering workforce by focusing on the roles of a systems engineer.
Program graduates will know and be able to perform in the following areas:
- Broad understanding of the systems engineering life-cycle process
- Thorough understanding of project management techniques applied to technical development, including risk analysis
- Proficiency with mathematical tools and techniques used to perform systems analysis, trade-off studies, and high-level modeling
- Broad understanding of systems architecture and its relationship to system design
Program Requirements
- Course work must be completed with a 3.0 GPA or better.
- All course work applied to the program (including any transfer credit) must have been completed no earlier than 6 years prior to degree completion.
- Up to 9 semester hours of graduate work may be transferred from an accredited graduate program, provided course work has not been used for any other degree, the grade earned for the course is B or better, and the course
Admission Details
The minimum requirements for regular admission are as follows:
- Bachelor of Science in engineering or a related science discipline from an accredited institution.
- An overall undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a scale of 4.0.
- Evidence of mathematical maturity equivalent to completion of the following university-level coursework:
- Three semesters of Calculus
- At least one semester beyond Calculus (Advanced Calculus or Differential Equations)
- Linear Algebra
- Probability and Statistics
- Two (2) or more years experience in a commercial, civil or government engineering/science field.
An applicant who lacks one or more of the above requirements may be admitted on a provisional basis subject to the recommendations of the Master of Engineering Graduate Committee and approval by the UCCS Graduate School.
